Inhale Gratitude. Exhale Hope.
For thousands of Americans living with advanced lung disease, a lung transplant may be their only chance for survival. Yet despite the life-saving potential of this procedure, many patients face the transplant journey without adequate information, resources, or support.
To meet this urgent need, the Lung Transplant Foundation and partners across the lung health community, is introducing the first-ever Lung Transplant Awareness Day on October 9, 2025.
We hope that by highlighting Lung Transplant Awareness Day, we can inspire and empower individuals living with advanced lung disease to speak with their doctors as early as possible in their disease journey about transplantation—a crucial step that can help ensure informed decision-making, thorough planning, and improved outcomes for those who may benefit from a lung transplant,” says Amy Skiba, Executive Director of the Lung Transplant Foundation and leader of the Lung Transplant Awareness Day initiative.
This inaugural day of recognition is dedicated to raising awareness of transplantation as a vital treatment option, honoring the strength and resilience of patients and their families, and spotlighting the dedication of the medical professionals who make these life-saving procedures possible. It also calls for greater support, education, and timely access for everyone impacted by advanced lung disease.
