Gratitude Overflows: Celebrating Lung Transplant Day

Topics:

To say we are grateful would be an understatement. The first-ever Lung Transplant Awareness Day (October 9) was a true community moment, and it happened because of you.

From patients and caregivers who bravely shared their stories, to clinicians, advocates, and partners who amplified the message across the country and around the world, you helped shine a powerful light on lung transplantation and the resources that support life on your transplant journey.

Highlights we’re celebrating together

  • Thousands engaged with our messages and visited lungtransplantawarenessday.org to learn, share, and find support.
  • Patient advocacy groups across diseases stood shoulder to shoulder to make information easier to find.
  • Clinicians and transplant centers helped educate their communities about referral, evaluation, and life post-transplant.
  • Most importantly, we honored organ donors and donor families, whose generosity makes every transplant possible.

A heartfelt thank you to our presenting sponsor, Lung Bioengineering, and to our collaborating organizations including ATS and ISHLT, along with many other partners who joined and amplified the day. Your leadership and partnership set the tone for what this day can become.

What’s next

  • We’ll keep the website updated with resources, partner organizations, and ways to get involved.
  • We’re already planning for next year with more education, more patient voices, and even stronger collaboration across the transplant community.
  • If you found the day meaningful, please keep the momentum going:
  • Share your story with one more person this week.
  • Encourage a friend to register as an organ donor.
  • Point patients and caregivers to the Lung Transplant Foundation’s mentorshipeducation, and support programs.

Thank you for showing the world what’s possible when we stand together for people living with advanced lung disease. Inhale gratitude. Exhale hope. We can’t wait to build on this tremendous momentum with you.

With hope and gratitude,
